The Most Egregious “Privacy Policy” Yet Girl Gets Meat Instead of iPod
Dec 05

A friend recently asked me “are you a blogger?”
I love and hate the term “blog.” It’s so trendy now.

The reality is that the PowerPage pre-dates the term “blog” by quite a while. I started the PowerPage in 1995, before Dave’s Scripting News (1997) and Slashdot (1997) and even before the Way Back Machine at Archive.org (1996).

I don’t write about what I ate for breakfast, what CD I’m listening too, or about my sister’s favorite boy band.

The PowerPage is a serial publication, that publishes daily and it’s independent. Which are blog-esque qualities. But, in addition to the PowerPage, I’ve been a paid contributor to MacWeek, MacWorld, MacAddict, MacPower and the MacBible over the years.

So while being a “blogger” doesn’t automatically make you a professional journalist, being a paid journalist for print and online pubs for over 10 years definitely does.
