To anyone who doubted that the Internet had a Web site for every fetish, we give you smashmyphone.com. This is either a PowerPage mobile warrior’s worst nightmare or the greatest Extreme PowerBook segment ever, er, depending on what you’re into. Is it time to link to our coverage of insurance plans again?

Neal from the PowerPage UK bureau files this report:
Passed the London Apple retail store last night in regent street. The store will be housed in Regents House a building that dates back to 1898. With 9 days to go to the grand opening I managed to peek inside and boy is it big. The glass stair case is centre placed and it reminded me of the Soho store in New York but bigger!
A short trip to Tottenham court road (where all the current Mac dealers can be found) gave rise to comments bemoaning the stranglehold UK Apple has on new stock and the fact that the iPod Photo will not be available on the high street until the store opens. More on the 20th.

Hack-A-Day reports on GPS and the PowerBook:
here’s one for the mac peeps. i’ve received a few emails asking about how to get a gps to work on a mac and then writing a custom interface to display the data. macromedia flash “could” work but director is better at handling and manipulating bitmaps, so that being said—i dug up this example using a garmin eTrex vista and keyspan serial to usb adaptor.

I don’t know if it was because I called my AirPort card “wonky” in a story today (or if I just like saying the word wonky) but the PowerPage has gone wonky today. The crack team at RedWidget is working on a WebOjects issue. The main news page is back up, but comments and email are still down. Could be a day or two.
If you ever need to find me when the PowerPage is down, bookmark this page. You can also email me at my last name (no punctuation) at gmail dot com.
